Privacy Policy

1. Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to Kind Cause at realkindcause.com and related pages, forms, and services that link to this Policy. Kind Cause is a service of Kind Tech LLC (“Kind Cause,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Information we collect

Donation and transaction information

When you donate, we may collect the cause you support, donation amount, name, email address, your public-display preference, transaction status, receipt information, refund or chargeback information, and fraud or security signals. The checkout flow may also receive payment-card information such as card number, expiration date, and security code for transmission through the payment flow to applicable payment and crowdfunding service providers.

Cause organizer, beneficiary, and verification information

When a cause is submitted, we may collect organizer name, email, phone number, organization or legal-entity name, relationship to a beneficiary, cause title and description, category, funding goal, currency, requested dates, beneficiary type and name, city, region, country, intended use of funds, supporting facts, website or social links, attachments, consent confirmations, submission timestamps, and technical submission information.

Verification may require additional information reasonably necessary to confirm identity, authority, eligibility, the represented need, beneficiary consent, supporting facts, fraud risk, or compliance with law and provider requirements.

Account and authentication information

If account features are available, we may collect account identifiers, profile details, login and authentication records, password-reset or recovery events, security settings, device/session information, and records of actions taken while signed in. Authentication credentials may be handled by an authentication service provider.

Support and communications

When you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, selected support topic, message contents, attachments you choose to provide, and related correspondence.

Device, usage, and technical information

We and our service providers may collect IP address, browser and device information, operating system, referring pages, logs, page interactions, search/filter activity, timestamps, cookie or local-storage identifiers, diagnostics, security events, and approximate location inferred from IP address.

3. Sensitive and third-party information

Cause stories can involve health, disability, financial hardship, children, family circumstances, or other sensitive subjects. Submit only information that is necessary, accurate, and lawful to provide. If you submit information about another person, you represent that you have the authority or consent required to provide it and, where applicable, to permit its requested public display.

Do not upload Social Security numbers, full bank-account credentials, account passwords, or government identity documents unless Kind Cause specifically requests the information through an approved verification channel. Avoid uploading complete medical records or other highly sensitive records when a less sensitive document can establish the same fact.

4. Sources of information

We receive information directly from donors, cause organizers, beneficiaries or their representatives, support users, and account holders; from our website and technical systems; from crowdfunding, payment, hosting, security, communications, fraud-prevention, and verification providers; and from public or lawfully available sources used to verify a cause or comply with law.

5. How we use information

• Display, administer, review, verify, approve, reject, pause, or remove causes.
• Process donations, provide transaction records, reconcile payments, manage refunds or chargebacks, and prevent unauthorized or duplicate transactions.
• Create and administer accounts and provide authentication, account recovery, security, and support.
• Communicate with organizers, donors, beneficiaries, and support users about submissions, donations, verification, security, service changes, or requests.
• Publish cause information and supporter names when public display is selected or authorized.
• Detect and prevent fraud, impersonation, abuse, prohibited fundraising, money laundering, sanctions evasion, and security incidents.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve Kind Cause.
• Comply with legal obligations, payment-network rules, sanctions restrictions, tax or accounting requirements, lawful requests, and provider requirements.
• Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and enforce our Terms of Use.

6. How we disclose information

We may disclose personal information to payment processors, crowdfunding infrastructure providers, banks and payment-network participants; hosting, security, fraud-prevention, authentication, communications, support, analytics, document-storage, and verification providers; professional advisers; organizers or beneficiaries where necessary to administer a cause; and government or law-enforcement authorities where legally required.

We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent, in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, or when reasonably necessary to protect Kind Cause, users, beneficiaries, donors, or the public from fraud, abuse, security threats, or unlawful activity.

7. Payments and service providers

Kind Cause relies on third-party services to support crowdfunding and payment functionality. Those providers may process information under their own privacy notices, legal obligations, fraud controls, security standards, and retention requirements. Payment authorization, settlement, card-network activity, chargebacks, and fraud screening may therefore involve providers acting independently of Kind Cause.

We do not use full payment-card numbers or card security codes for public display, advertising, or cause promotion.

8. Public cause information

Information published on a cause page or community feature is public and may be copied, indexed, cached, archived, screenshotted, or reshared by others outside our control. This can include cause titles, descriptions, images, selected beneficiary information, funding progress, updates, and supporter names when a donor chooses public display. Removing information from Kind Cause does not guarantee removal from search engines, archives, screenshots, or third-party sites.

9. Cookies and tracking technologies

Kind Cause and service providers may use cookies, local storage, server logs, pixels, or similar technologies for essential functionality, preferences, fraud prevention, session management, security, diagnostics, and measurement. Where applicable law requires consent or an opt-out for nonessential tracking, we will provide the required control.

Where applicable law requires recognition of a valid browser-based universal opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we will process that signal as required.

10. Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

Kind Cause does not currently sell personal information for money and does not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising as those concepts are defined by applicable U.S. state privacy laws. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide any notice, consent, or opt-out mechanism required by law.

11. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including cause review and administration, donation processing, account support, fraud and security investigations, dispute resolution, tax and accounting records, payment-provider requirements, legal compliance, and the establishment or defense of claims. Retention periods vary by record type. We may retain nonpublic transaction, verification, or security records after public content is removed when a legitimate business or legal reason requires it.

12. Security and account protection

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls, service-provider controls, secure transmission practices, monitoring, and data-minimization measures appropriate to the nature of the information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your account-security responsibilities

• Use a unique, strong password for Kind Cause and do not reuse passwords from other services.
• Use multi-factor authentication when it is offered and keep your recovery email and device secure.
• Do not share login codes, recovery links, passwords, payment-card security codes, or other authentication credentials with anyone claiming to be Kind Cause support.
• Sign out on shared or public devices and keep your browser, device, and operating system reasonably up to date.
• Notify us promptly at help@realkindcause.com if you suspect unauthorized account activity, phishing, or compromise.

We may require identity or account verification before completing sensitive requests such as account recovery, changes to payout or contact information, or privacy-rights requests. If a security incident requires notice under applicable law, we will provide required notifications to affected individuals or authorities.

13. U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live and whether the applicable law applies to Kind Cause, you may have rights to access or confirm processing; obtain a copy; correct; delete; learn categories of information collected, used, or disclosed; opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; use an authorized agent; appeal a denied request; and receive equal service when exercising privacy rights.

Submit a request to help@realkindcause.com with the subject “Kind Cause Privacy Request.” We may verify your identity and request information reasonably necessary to match you to our records. If applicable law provides an appeal right, you may appeal by replying to our decision and stating that you wish to appeal.

14. California notice at collection

To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, applies to Kind Cause, we may collect the following categories of personal information: identifiers and contact information; customer-record information; commercial and donation transaction information; internet or network activity; approximate geolocation; professional or organizational information; payment and financial information used to facilitate transactions; account-login or authentication information; user-generated cause and support content; and sensitive personal information when needed for payment, verification, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

We use these categories for the purposes described in Section 5 and disclose them to the recipients described in Sections 6 and 7. Retention is determined using the criteria in Section 11, including the duration of the user, cause, transaction, or account relationship; the time reasonably needed to provide, verify, secure, and support the service; applicable payment, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal requirements; and whether continued retention remains reasonably necessary and proportionate to the disclosed purpose. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a separate right to limit unless we provide the notice and control required by law.

15. Children

Kind Cause is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Donors and cause organizers must be at least 18 unless Kind Cause expressly offers a legally compliant program with different eligibility rules. A cause concerning a minor must be submitted by an authorized adult who has the right to provide the information and media used.

16. International users

Kind Cause is operated in the United States and may use service providers in the United States and other countries. If you use Kind Cause from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection rules differ from those where you live. Where applicable law grants additional privacy rights or requires additional transfer safeguards, we will honor those requirements to the extent they apply.

17. Legal requests and business transfers

We may preserve, use, or disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, court orders, tax or accounting requirements, payment-network rules, sanctions obligations, or lawful governmental requests; to protect rights, safety, and security; or to investigate fraud and abuse. Information may also transfer as part of a financing, merger, acquisition, restructuring, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of a business, subject to applicable law.

18. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as Kind Cause features, service providers, payment flows, account tools, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version and update the “Last updated” date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent when applicable law requires it.
